Let the Turkey Live, We’re Going to Disney World!
Thanksgiving is one of the most popular holidays in the United States. Everyone enjoys getting together with extended family and enjoying a large turkey. And even though this get together at a person’s home is a fantastic time, the family that does the hosting usually ends up doing it year after year. Sometimes you have to mix things up to create memories that last forever. So let the turkey live this year and take everyone to Orlando to celebrate Thanksgiving with Mickey.
Walt Disney World® and the surrounding Orlando theme parks can bring Thanksgiving to everyone in a way that will create a lasting memory for all. And what better way to create that memory than everyone staying in the same vacation home. We have vacation homes from 2 to 10 bedrooms that can accommodate every person in your family. One big happy family Thanksgiving! What could be better than that?
Where to Eat Thanksgiving Dinner
Most families stay at home during Thanksgiving. Not many people know what Disney World is like on this day. Visitors will be surprised that the crowds are not worse during the holiday. But planning is important because every family will have different times when they like to have Thanksgiving. My family always ate at 1 o’ clock sharp. And usually nap time around 3 for me as I could put away some turkey.
Now you are more than welcome to eat at your vacation home. It will have all the amenities to make that happen. Then you can enjoy the theme parks afterward. But if you decide that you would rather be waited on, then I have some suggestions for you that you will want to make advance reservations for to ensure you get a seat.
Epcot
Think about it where in the world can you try Thanksgiving dinner where every country is featured: Epcot. And it doesn’t disappoint.
- Coral Reef Restaurant : Enjoy Thanksgiving “under the sea”.
- Le Cellier Steakhouse : Canadian fine dining at its best.
- Akershus Royal Banquet Hall : Dining with Disney characters.
- Biergarten Restaurant : German Buffet / Family style dining.
- Rose & Crown Pub : British fare.
Some of the restaurant menus are changed to reflect the Thanksgiving season, but in order to ensure they do, it is best to call. In fact, when I did a search for 12 people using Disney’s dining search feature it kept giving me this statement:
Sorry, we are unable to process a reservation for this number of guests online. Please call (407) WDW-DINE for assistance. Guests under the age of 18 just have parent or guardian permission to call.
If you are going to have a large party, then a phone call is best to ensure that your Thanksgiving day is perfect.
Magic Kingdom
- Cinderella’s Royal Table : Dining with Disney Princesses inside Cinderella Castle.
- Liberty Tree Tavern : Perfect founding father’s Thanksgiving dinner.
Animal Kingdom
- Tusker House Restaurant : Join Donald Duck and friends for Thanksgiving.
Hollywood Studios
- The Hollywood Brown Derby : Unforgettable experience dining with an Imagineer.
Lest we forget these are just the Disney options. Do not forget about Univeral Studios and SeaWorld which also will have options for Thanksgiving. Can you imagine watching an Orca show right after Thanksgiving. Now that would be a story to tell. But please note, the orca shows end sometime in 2019.
Where to Stay Thanksgiving
Now we know we are doing for our Thanksgiving meal, it is time to decide where we are going to stay. While most people travel to Orlando with just their intermediate family, the extended family is always welcome on this holiday. Most of the accommodation in the Disney park is for smaller families or couples. In order to accommodate the entire family vacation home rentals are the best option. These homes can be rented for a short period of time and have much more room than standard hotels. Furthermore, these vacation rentals make it easy for a larger group to visit Disney World together.
