Things to do in Orlando: WonderWorks
Orlando is full of fun and different things to do, but WonderWorks certainly stands out from the bunch! This upside-down attraction is an amusement park for the mind, with 35,000 square-feet of exhibits that combine education, entertainment and fun, and spark the imagination. Here’s our run down on some of WonderWorks’ most interesting and popular attractions!
.
The Tesla Coil
Ever wondered what it’s like to feel 100,000 volts of electricity at your fingertips? You can become a human lightning rod by placing your hand in a steel mesh glove as a Tesla Coil emits 100,000 volts of electricity that connects with your hand! It might sound a little intense, but don’t worry! The steel mesh glove encapsulates your hand, protecting you as the electricity surges through the glove’s metal material.
.
Virtual Sports
Everyone at some point has thought about what it might be like to play their favorite sport on the biggest stage! While WonderWorks can’t provide the fans, their virtual sports exhibit does allow you test your skills on the baseball, football and soccer field. See how fast you can pitch, try to beat the defense with a perfect football toss or try to sneak a goal past a soccer goalie and learn how you match up with professional athletes.
.
Space Discovery—Land a Space Shuttle
In November of 1983, Space Shuttle Discover arrived at the Kennedy Space Center and embarked on its first mission flight on August 30 of the same year. WonderWorks modeled their space shuttle simulator after the now retired orbiter, and you can get behind the controls! The simulator places you in the pilot’s chair as the shuttle begins its descent to earth, and your skills are put to the test as your try to land the shuttle safely on a remote airstrip.
.
The Ropes Course
The ropes course at WonderWorks is a 3-story glow-in-the-dark adventure which is the first of its kind in Orlando. We love this attraction because no matter what your level of athleticism, there is fun for everyone. More advanced athletes will discover a worthy challenge while those who are climbing just for fun will really enjoy navigating the course one step at a time.

These attractions are just a small taste of all the fun going on at WonderWorks! In a town with some of the world’s biggest theme parks, it’s easy to overlook hidden gems like this one, but for anyone who’s looking to flex their mental (and physical muscles) and see something out of the ordinary, WonderWorks on I-Drive is a definite must see.
